Torino boss Sinisa Mihajlovic believes today’s players do not talk enough and generally lack the focus to know “who they’ll face in the next three games”.

Speaking at a Press conference in aid of Torino’s match against Chievo on Saturday, Mihajlovic referred to a time he spent with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, in which his eyes were opened to the professionalism of his players.

“Belotti was a bit better yesterday, we’ll see tonight and tomorrow if he’s able to play. Barreca has recovered,” he said at a Press conference.

“Chievo are a very good team that play well and are capable of defending and starting over.

“They play the same way at home and away and don’t have any big weaknesses.

“We must make them feel the impact of our stadium, the Grande Torino. My lads have an edge.

“We must attack the second balls, the key to the game will be that. We can’t have sterile possession of the ball, we must create more chances [than against Crotone].

“Athletes are now more professional than they were in my time. The only bad thing is that they communicate little.

“Once we played cards and talked, but now they send text messages and this problem is reflected onto the pitch, where we still communicate little.

“When I played, there were players who smoked and drank, but then we were very focused on the pitch and League in general. Now, just a few of them know who they’ll face in the next three games.

“I once went to see one of Pep Guardiola’s games, then we went to eat together and he told me: ‘This was a great match because, without telling them, my players gathered to watch recordings of their opponents, and then I heard them discuss it in the dressing room’. This is what I mean by passion.

“I like to see every type of game. I also to go to watch Juve because I’m curious, I want to understand how all teams play, and I try to transmit that to my players.

“They gather to watch movies, but the more time they spend together talking about football, the better. Even for half an hour longer, it’s important.”
