Andrea Pinamonti’s feelings were “indescribable” after the 17-year-old was given his senior Inter debut against Sparta Prague.

The striker was promoted from the Primavera youth team and thrown on from the start by Stefano Pioli in this evening’s Europa League tie.

“San Siro is my favourite stadium because I am an Inter fan, so it was indescribable to be playing there. I still haven’t quite realised what happened tonight,” Pinamonti told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-1 victory.

“I am happy that the Coach and club put their faith in me. I thank them and I’m ready in case I’m called again, but naturally the choice is down to them.”

When did the teenager find out he was going to not only get his senior debut, but be in the starting XI?

“On the team bus an hour before the game kicked off.”

Pinamonti provided the assist for Eder’s opening goal and his work-rate was very impressive.

“I like to help the team and even if I don’t score a goal, it is important to contribute to the team effort. I will always try to improve. Rodrigo Palacio gives me lots of advice, but I must admit my idol is Mauro Icardi.”
