Claudio Ranieri looks ahead to the Champions League draw, but is resigned to the fact “Inter don’t want to give us Nicolas Burdisso.”
Roma are one of three Italian sides in the draw for the group phase, which starts at 17.00 UK time, along with Inter and Milan.
“It will be a wonderful and difficult tournament. It’s great to begin again in this competition with the team you’ve always supported,” said the Coach.
“It’s something special that you feel inside. There are great teams out there, but we are strong and can’t wait to get back out there.”
Roma completed the signing of centre-back Paolo Castellini on loan from Parma with an option to buy.
The move makes it increasingly unlikely they’ll prise Burdisso away from Inter after he spent last season on loan at the Olimpico, as he’s said to be in talks with Juventus.
“Inter don’t want to give him to us. It’s possible he will go elsewhere,” explained Ranieri.
“We’re in the race and will see how it goes. Inter and Juve spend all day arguing, then at night they get together to make deals.”
