Massimiliano Allegri thanked Daniele De Rossi for his support and underlined his expectations for the tense Serie A clash between his Juventus and Roma.

The 56-year-old Italian coach has been under increasing pressure throughout his second spell in Turin and things have continued to exacerbate this season, especially after his side fell away from league leaders Inter in the title race.

In recent months, Juventus have been in dire form, managing just two wins in their last 13 Serie A matches. Despite the run, a victory over Roma would be enough to secure the team’s spot in the Champions League, a vital objective in their quest to rebuild.

Allegri on Juventus state and Roma anger

Speaking in a press conference via TMW, Allegri first discussed Juventus’ approach to their clash with Roma.

“We got close well, then we’ll see tomorrow if we can get back to winning ways. Roma have great technical qualities. It will be a fascinating match, but difficult and complicated.”

He was asked if Timothy Weah would feature.

“He played a good game. In this period, he is better and can play. Alex Sandro and Kenan Yildiz, who has gastroenteritis, will not be there tomorrow.”

Allegri took stock of Weston McKennie and a few others in his squad.

“He’s had an excellent season. I need everyone at the moment. Kean is definitely better up front and Milik is also confident after the goal against Lazio. He did very well on Saturday. Cambiaso can play as a winger as well as a central player. He knows play football and can still improve a lot.”

He responded to De Rossi’s sympathetic comments.

“I thank Daniele. I played with his father at Livorno. Daniele gave enthusiasm and light-heartedness, even though Mourinho had done an excellent job. We will find a Roma angry at Thursday’s defeat, wanting to return to fighting for the top four places in the league.”

Allegri was asked how Juventino he felt.

“I have lived in Turin for 10 years now and I have been lucky enough to be part of this great family and great club. The DNA of every club must always be respected.”

He commented on if more light-heartedness would’ve helped the Bianconeri this term.

“Football is difficult to explain. Football must be played, there are times when it goes well and when it doesn’t. We have had a couple of months where we had no forwards.

“We don’t have to think about what happened. Tomorrow, we have a good game to play against a strong team. We need to prepare to play a good match.”

Allegri spoke about changing generations and the Grande Torino squad.

“It’s right to remember with great affection the Grande Torino, which was a memorable team. Dybala is an extraordinary player on a technical level, of an absolute level. Paredes didn’t do well last year, but no one doubted the value of the player.”

He touched on if Bologna’s draw with Torino had an effect on him.

“As far as the result is concerned, we are ahead, and we have to score points. Our 65 points are not enough for the Champions League. Bologna had a great season, and no one expected this.”

Finally, Allegri was asked if he’s spoken to Dusan Vlahovic recently.

“I spoke to him like everyone else. The forwards are fine, when he scores in practice games it means they’re fine. I’m happy, because they can become decisive.”
