Tuttosport newspaper notes that Stefano Pioli and Massimiliano Allegri are ‘alone’ ahead of Saturday’s Serie A showdown between Juventus and Milan.
Allegri and Pioli face an uncertain future despite contracts expiring in June 2025 and multiple sources in Italy claim both coaches will leave their clubs at the end of the season. Tomorrow, Saturday, April 27, they’ll meet in a Serie A game at the Allianz Stadium.
The only thing at stake is second place in Serie A, given that Inter became Italy champions on Monday. However, it is still a match between two of the most storied clubs in the Peninsula, and millions of fans from all over the world will watch the Turin showdown. Top betting sites in Malaysia will provide the best odds for the match between the Bianconeri and the Rossoneri, who hope to return in the title race again in 2024-25.
In the meantime, one of the biggest talking points seems to be the future of their coaches.
‘Allegri and Pioli are men alone,’ wrote Italian journalist Sandro Sabatini on Tuttosport on Friday, on the eve of a Serie A match between Juventus and Milan at the Allianz Stadium.
Sabatini confirmed that Allegri and Pioli are likely to leave at the end of the season but tend to defend both, suggesting that the players at their disposal are not top-level.
‘Vidal-Pirlo and Pogba turned into Pjanic-Khedira and Matuidi. Way better than McKennie-Locatelli and Rabiot,’ noted the journalist.
‘Today’s Milan use Adli, Bennacer and Loftus-Cheek, but used to have Kessié, Tonali and Calhanoglu, not exactly the same thing.’
Sabatini insisted that Juventus and Milan do not have the same strength on and off the pitch as in the past and made a prediction that most fans wouldn’t enjoy.
‘Milan must sell Theo or Maignan to finance new summer signings. Same thing for Juventus. Chiesa will extend or leave, and Vlahovic will spread his salary or go. Perhaps Rabiot will sign a new contract, which will be more similar to a long-term lease. Inter and Zhang may even have debts, but they’ve already signed Taremi and Zielinski to strengthen the team and will finish the season with a 20-point lead over the second-placed.’
Juventus seemed to be title contenders in the first part of the season, but have only won two matches since February and are now five points below their next rivals in the Serie A table.
The Bianconeri sit third, while Milan rank second in Serie A with 69 points. The Rossoneri lost the derby della Madonnina on Monday, seeing their city rivals celebrate their 20th Serie A title in their faces.
They’ll be looking for revenge against Juventus, but Pioli will finish the second consecutive season empty-handed, while the Coppa Italia remains Allegri’s last chance to lift a piece of silverware this term.
