Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has targeted an immediate return to the Champions League after the Partenopei’s elimination on Wednesday.
The Italians were defeated by Chelsea 4-1 on the night in London after extra time and 5-4 on aggregate to exit the competition at the Last 16 stage.
Having played the likes of Bayern Munich, Villarreal and Manchester City as well as the Stamford Bridge side, De Laurentiis is keen that his club focus on an immediate return to the competition.
“After this defeat I have more desire to continue. I applauded my own and I told them to concentrate on the League, because I want to return next year to this wonderful competition.”
The patron also echoed Walter Mazzarri’s words that the team will learn from their time in this year’s competition.
“There has been an exponential growth of an excellent group, they will have gained from this experience in the Champions League.”
