Luis Enrique is pleased with Maarten Stekelenburg's arrival, but warns Roma “must not underestimate Slovan Bratislava.”
The Giallorossi have been paired with the Slovakians in the Europa League preliminary round.
“In theory they are an inferior opponent, but in football the weaker team often eliminates the stronger one,” he told Roma Channel.
“They won their own title and were eliminated during the Champions League preliminary rounds, plus they're further ahead in terms of fitness.
“We have to face them with the right concentration and intensity, so this is by no means an easy task. We must work to get past this hurdle, otherwise we cannot go far in this competition.”
Slovan Bratislava announced on Saturday evening that they have lost Coach Karel Jarolim to Saudi club Al Ahli, so Vladimir Weiss replaces him on the bench.
Meanwhile, Roma presented new goalkeeper Stekelenburg to the media, impressing Enrique.
“Stekelenburg is one of those players who raises the quality level of a squad. The club strongly wanted him and I'm sure he can settle in well here.”
