Juventus both disappointed and impressed boss Antonio Conte during the 2-1 defeat to Milan on Sunday.
The Rossoneri won the annual Trofeo Berlusconi tie last night, thanks to goals from Kevin Prince Boateng and Clarence Seedorf, against a two-faced Old Lady.
"It was an important test which was split into two, with two very different halves of football," the tactician noted.
"The first period was an example to show of what we shouldn't do. Instead, in the second half, we deserved to draw the game.
"The change was thanks to the determination, the nastiness and the side's ability to react."
The loss was a blow to the Bianconeri, but the former Siena tactician is refusing to panic ahead of the Serie A kick off.
"We know that we need to improve and that is normal, but I am optimistic about the Udinese game because the team is growing," he added.
Juventus undeniably improved following the introduction of Alex Del Piero, while Arturo Vidal struggled in a left-midfield position.
"Del Piero is a champion full of experience," Conte continued.
"I have the need for him, and the other senators like Gigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo, in order to transmit my ideas to the squad. They give me a hand.
"Vidal didn't have more than 20 minutes in his legs," he added. "On the left he could ensure good movement thanks to his flexibility.
"We have to remember that he only arrived recently and he has just been training with the squad which is creating the foundations to do well."
