Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri is remaining upbeat despite Monday's crushing 5-0 friendly loss at Barcelona.
The Azzurri took on the European champions for the annual Gamper Trophy, but were taught a lesson by the Spanish giants.
"We came here to Barcelona to improve," the tactician noted. "The result only matters up until a certain point.
"The important thing is that we needed this match to grow as a team and to get ready for the games that matter in a certain way."
Mazzarri was keen for his boys to taste the Nou Camp environment ahead of a season that will see them appear in the Champions League.
The tactician fielded a competitive starting XI which included last year's top scorer Edinson Cavani.
"It was always going to be a tough test against a side full of champions," the centre-forward commented.
"Now we just have to continue to work hard because we made a lot of mistakes against Barcelona.
"Things couldn't have gone worse out there. It's not nice to lose in such a manner."
Napoli also lost Miguel Britos in the game with an injury. The defender broke a bone in his foot and is set to be out for two months.
