Gilardino too pricey for Palermo

Palermo have admitted an interest in Alberto Gilardino of Fiorentina – but they've underlined that they can't afford him.

Genoa target Gila has been paired with the Rosanero over the last 24 hours, amidst talk of a possible swap deal with Mauricio Pinilla.

"I do like Gilardino," Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini told Radio Radio on Monday afternoon.

"However, it is Fiorentina who are interested in Pinilla and not the other way around," he continued.

"The problem with Gilardino is with regards to his salary. He earns €2.5m a season and that is outside our budget."
