Milan have revealed that they concluded the deal for Antonio Nocerino just 40 minutes before the transfer window closed.
"The idea to sign Nocerino was born while I was in the office yesterday," Vice-President Adriano Galliani noted.
"Someone told me that there was a chance that he could be available. That's when I made a move and the deal was done at 6.20pm last night."
Nocerino has arrived from Palermo, primarily to replace Mathieu Flamini in the squad after he was ruled out of action for six months with knee trouble.
The Italian champions moved calmly in the window, even if they did spice things up with their promises of a mysterious Mr X signing.
"That player was always Alberto Aquilani, since the very start of the window," the official insisted. "I can say that we got our primary target.
"A mark for our transfer campaign? I can't judge myself. The results this season will determine our vote."
