Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has admitted that Pippo Inzaghi was frustrated at being left out of their Champions League squad.
The tactician decided to omit the striker from his 25-man list given concerns over the veteran's fitness.
"I spoke to Pippo," the former Cagliari Coach noted. "He didn't take the news well, but that is only understandable.
"However, I told him that we'll wait for his return in January in the hope that he recovers full fitness by then."
Inzaghi, 38, has a special relationship with European club football given his immense scoring record on the continent.
In 115 games, he has grabbed 70 goals and is just two shy of Raul's 72 total. The former Real Madrid man is currently the all-time top scorer in European competitions.
Allegri has only four strikers available to him for the group stages Antonio Cassano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexandre Pato and Robinho.
