Sneijder unaffected by Utd talk

Wesley Sneijder insists the constant rumours of a move to Manchester United didn't affect his summer or pre-season at Inter.

"To be honest I was very calm," said the Dutch international midfielder who was targeted by the Old Trafford outfit. "I knew that there would be no pressure.

"When I went to Real Madrid from Ajax it all happened quickly, then it was the same when suddenly I went from Real to Inter.

"If you know how the market works, you can calm down and relax."

The attacking midfielder eventually remained at San Siro, although he does admit that a sale was a possibility.

"When I was on holiday the club called my agent and said they needed money, so wanted to sell me," he continued.

"This is the only reason I spoke to Manchester United, which everyone knows I did. Then Samuel Eto'o was sold [to Anzhi] and nothing more came of it.

"I don't know of any interest from Manchester City.

He added: "I'm happy that I got to stay, as I love the city of Milan, the people, Italian football and I know Inter are a strong side.

"I'd love to stay to the end of my contract in 2015, but it doesn't just depend on me. I was relaxed throughout the summer because I knew what I wanted. Besides, I'm used to being on the market."

Sneijder also revealed that he recently spoke with former Inter boss Jose Mourinho about his future.

"Mourinho advised me and he has Inter at heart, so he told me to stay. He's a wonderful Coach."
