Brescia ‘had to sack Iachini’

Brescia sporting director Gianluca Nani insists that the dismissal of Coach Beppe Iachini earlier today was inevitable.

The Lombard outfit lost 3-0 at Milan on Saturday which extended their winless streak to 11 League games.

"We are saddened to lose him, but we had no other option," said the official.

"Iachini is paying the price for the results which, up to a point, are what matter in football.

"It was a difficult decision to take because Iachini did some great work here and we recognise that."

Brescia won three out of their first four games this term, but have collected just three points from the next available 33.

Mario Beretta, formerly of Siena and Lecce, is expected to soon be confirmed as the former midfielder's replacement.
