Torino have confirmed that they hope to hand Angelo Ogbonna a new contract at the club before the end of this month.
Ogbonna was a wanted man on the transfer market, but Toro rejected all offers for the promising defender.
"I'm already speaking with the player's agent," Torino President Urbano Cairo told Tuttosport.
"The boy will have a longer and more lucrative contract by the time October arrives. Ogbonna is a fantastic lad."
The 23-year-old, who can be fielded in the middle or as a right full-back, is presently tied to the Serie B club until June 2013.
Ogbonna, who was called up by Italy boss Cesare Prandelli last term, is valued at around €15m by the Turin outfit.
He was paired with the likes of Valencia, Arsenal and Juventus, amongst others, during the transfer window.
