Chivu to miss Palermo clash

Cristian Chivu is expected to miss Inter's trip to Palermo after spraining his ankle during training today.

The Romanian international limped off early in the session with a sprained left ankle, though more tests are required to ascertain the extent of the damage.

It is unlikely Chivu can recover in time for Sunday night's Serie A opener against Palermo.

Ivan Cordoba, Douglas Maicon, Andrea Poli and Emiliano Viviano are also out due to injuries.

Thiago Motta is a major doubt after picking up a thigh problem during Italy's 1-0 win over Slovenia on Tuesday.

Inter announced that youth academy product Paolo Tornaghi, a goalkeeper who was on loan at Como, has been integrated into the senior squad.
