Marcelo Salas has congratulated former club Juventus for signing Arturo Vidal this summer from Bayer Leverkusen.
Salas was the first Chilean to sign for the Old Lady before Vidal became the second, at a cost of €10.5m, after the Copa America.
"He was a great swoop," the former Lazio striker told Calcio GP. "He's a very useful player, blessed with dynamism and good technique.
"In modern football it is important to have an element like him who can play in more than one role."
Vidal didn't start in Juve's first game of the season against Parma, but he did come off the bench to score in the 4-1 win.
"Arturo is the ideal midfield partner for Andrea Pirlo," the 1998 World Cup player continued. "They would be perfect, a complete and well assembled partnership.
"One would steal the ball with the right level of sporting aggression, while the other would dictate play. It's ideal."
Salas also believes that the Turin giants made the right move by appointing form teammate Antonio Conte as Coach.
"I'm happy for him," he added. "He was already a Coach on the field of play, he dragged the whole squad along with him.
"He's a winner, has great charisma and he knows how to make himself respected. He'll transmit his mentality to the side to make them competitive.
"I wish him well, but I have no doubts. He's a great choice."
