Davide Ballardini has revealed why he rejected the opportunity to become the new Coach of Bologna.
The Rossoblu replaced Pierpaolo Bisoli with Stefano Pioli on Tuesday, but only after talks with top target Ballardini.
"I met the President and their general director," the former Lazio and Genoa boss told Radio Mana Mana.
"It was clear that they wanted me, but I wanted to speak with my collaborators first. After discussing the matter, we didn't feel that it was right to start this adventure.
"The club were very kind, but we didn't feel that we could do well with the squad that Bologna currently have available.
"I wouldn't have been the right man for the job," he continued.
"I have a great desire to get back into the game, but I can only go to a club where I am convinced that I can succeed."
Bologna are currently bottom of the table after collecting just one point from the first five rounds of action.
