Davide Santon has suggested that he'd probably still be at Inter had Jose Mourinho remained with the club.
The Italian Under-21 international emerged as a potential star of the future under the Portuguese boss with the Nerazzurri in 2008-09.
However, his career has stalled somewhat since Mourinho left and the player joined Newcastle on a permanent basis in the summer.
"If only Mourinho had remained…" the right-back noted. "Anyway, there is no point in talking about such things now."
The Azzurrini star admits that he knew his Inter career had come to an end after Gian Piero Gasperini was brought in over the summer.
"I instantly understood that I wouldn't have had a lot of space in the team so I decided to leave," added the player who spent six months on loan at Cesena last season.
"I still watch Inter all of the time though and I think that with Claudio Ranieri now in charge, they will return to top shape."
