Samuel Eto'o could return to struggling Italian giants Inter in January on a two-month loan deal.
The Cameroon international only left the Nerazzurri in the summer after the Serie A side accepted a reported €27m bid from Russian outfit Anzhi.
However, it is being claimed that Eto'o has contacted Inter chief Massimo Moratti to offer his services in the New Year on a short-term basis.
With the Russian championship on a break in January and February, Eto'o is theoretically available to sign.
Inter also have a non-EU spot free in the squad and Eto'o won't be a part of the African Cup of Nations after Cameroon failed to qualify.
If the move occurs, which is similar to Milan's capture of David Beckham in the past, Eto'o could play in nine Serie A games and one possible Champions League tie.
