Andrea Ranocchia insists Inter's terrible defensive record cannot only be blamed on those at the back.
The Nerazzurri have conceded 16 Serie A goals this season, so the only teams who have done worse are Parma and Novara on 17.
“This is just one of those times when things aren't going our way,” Ranocchia told Inter Channel.
“Perhaps soon our luck will change. There have been some distractions, it's true, but it isn't just the fault of the defenders.
“Good or bad, a team wins or loses together. Of course it's natural that the defence always gets the blame first.”
Due to injuries and suspension, Ranocchia hasn't actually played in Serie A since his red card against Novara on September 20.
“Everything happened that night, as absolutely nothing went my way. It was a mistake to react that way to the referee, as a professional should never do that. I was very irritable, but promised myself I'll never behave that way again.
“I receive many compliments from the Inter fans, which I take as a sign I've started this adventure on the right foot. I hope to continue with this enthusiasm for the next 10 years.
“When my agent told me that the deal with Inter was done, I jumped for joy. I am so happy to be at this club and hope to stay here for the rest of my career. I can't picture myself wearing another jersey.”
