Cassano home by Monday?

Antonio Cassano could be at home as soon as Monday following successful heart surgery on Friday, reports are suggesting.

The Italian needed the procedure to correct a congenital defect which was uncovered after the player fell ill on the flight home from Milan's 3-2 win at Roma.

"The procedure on Antonio Cassano's patent foramen ovale finished at 8:35 am and all has gone well," read a Milan statement.

"The cardiac procedure to close his patent foramen ovale in Antonio's heart was done under local anaesthetic.

"The procedure was carried out by Professor Mario Carminati and Milan's team doctor Rodolfo Tavana was present."

Professor Carminati stated: "It all went well and without any problems. The procedure was carried out correctly."

The surgery lasted around 30 minutes. It's thought that the 29-year-old could be sidelined for as long as six months.
