Cisse has Ligue 1 target

Lazio striker Djibril Cisse says he’ll play in France again – but only if one of two clubs make a bid for him.

The 30-year-old moved to Italy in the summer, but he’s told L’Equipe that he intends to star in his homeland again.

“I only need six goals to reach 100 in Ligue 1,” he noted.

“I can assure you that I’ll get to that figure even if I could only play for two clubs – Auxerre or Marseille.”

The centre-forward started his career at Auxerre, while he’s also enjoyed a spell with Marseille after leaving Liverpool.

Cisse, though, wants a return to the international set-up before then – even if a lack of goals has seen him omitted from the squad for the games against USA and Belgium this month.

“I’m going through a tough time,” he continued. “I haven’t scored in the League for 10 games but I won’t give up.

“I really miss scoring goals. It is easier for me to return from injury, but going without scoring is tough. It hurts me.

“I’m certainly getting a little nervous, but I understand that the international Coach wants to give a chance to everyone.”

Cisse moved to the Italian capital in July after rippling the net on a consistent basis with Panathinaikos.

“People said I was dead when I went to Greece,” he continued. “That made me laugh. People who know me are aware that I never give up and I never do anything without a plan.

“I know what it takes to get back into the national side.”
