Gokhan Inler tells Manchester City not to be swayed by their latest result. “We showed what we can do.”
The Partenopei again failed to get the full points ahead of a Champions League match, only managing a 0-0 draw with Lazio on Saturday evening.
“We certainly deserved to bring home all three points and it’s a shame that Edinson Cavani’s goal was disallowed, as I don’t think Christian Maggio was offside,” said Swiss midfielder Inler.
“If we made a mistake, then perhaps it was that we weren’t incisive enough in the first half.
“I am confident that if we play this way in the next few rounds, then we can close the gap from the top of the table.”
Undoubtedly focus was on Tuesday’s Champions League showdown against Manchester City at the San Paolo.
“I don’t think that affected our performance against Lazio. In any case, we showed what we can do and will be in good shape going into this appointment.
“We played well and have to repeat this performance against City. Napoli are very fired up.”
