Roma new boy Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has surprisingly refused to rule his club out of the Scudetto race this season.
The Giallorossi have already lost four times in 11 games this term, but the capital club are still fifth in the standings.
“We are a new team, with a lot of new players, but we are only five points away from top,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Anything can happen and I won’t put any limits on what we can achieve. I play to win even if I know that we will be satisfied with qualifying for Europe next season.”
The Argentine-born forward returned to Italy this summer after previous spells at Lecce, Fiorentina and Bologna. He’s sufficiently impressed to break into the Italian national side.
“I was a little surprised when I was called up as I didn’t expect it at that moment,” the former Espanyol man added.
“I’ve always had a good rapport with Italy boss Cesare Prandelli though. When we were in Florence together he wanted to keep me.
“I hope that they have regrets about me in Argentine because, apart from Lionel Messi, I can challenge anyone on the field of play.”
