Giuseppe Sannino is in agreement with the Lega Calcio’s decision to ban him, but not for the reason that they have stated is why.
Siena Coach Sannino was sent off during his team’s hard-fought 2-1 Coppa Italia fourth round win at Cagliari. The match report and subsequent disciplinary hearing stated that the offence Sannino was given a one-match suspension for was ‘uttering a blasphemous term’.
However, Sannino is keen to put the record straight with regards the finer technicality of the misdemeanour.
“I accept the disqualification for the Coppa Italia because at Cagliari I used inappropriate words, but not the reason because I am sure I have not uttered a blasphemous expression.
“I think, in the confusion of these moments, I have been assigned a term that is not mine and that I regret.”
As a result of the ban, Sannino will now miss Siena’s Coppa Italia quarter-final clash with Palermo, scheduled for Thursday December 13.
