Paolo Cannavaro reveals Napoli’s crunch match with Villarreal “is part of history, the kind that as children we dreamed of playing.”
The San Paolo side need a win in Spain in order to qualify for the Champions League knockouts ahead of Manchester City, but could even lose if City fail to beat Bayern Munich.
“We will be concentrated only on what happens on the pitch, so we won’t even have news coming from the bench on the result in Manchester,” assured the defender and hometown hero.
“We know this match is part of history, the kind that as children we dreamed of playing. The lead-up to this game is great for me both as a player and a Napoli fan.
“We’ve become aware of our abilities. This season we’ve faced the strongest teams in Italy and Europe. Our growth is shown by the respect our opponents have for us.
“Now this is a decisive game. There are some encounters where there’s no need to talk, as we know what we must do. It’ll be a battle, but we are ready.”
