Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi has reacted rather coldly to reports that Antonio Cassano is close to signing for the club by telling journalists Ronaldinho is better.
Last night it emerged that Sampdoria are prepared to let Cassano join Milan on a free transfer, although a payment of €5m must be made to Real Madrid as part of a sell-on clause.
Asked if he is excited about the prospect of Cassano playing at San Siro, Berlusconi said: "So so. Ronaldinho is better."
Meanwhile, Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani is yet to complete the deal despite positive indications from Sampdoria.
"The deal for Cassano is at a good stage but it's not complete. The problem is the €5m that need to go to Real Madrid.
"We have an agreement with Cassano and one with Sampdoria. But who will pay Real? We don't intend to. That's the problem.
"If Cassano arrives then he will replace Pippo Inzaghi, not Ronaldinho."
