Contradicting reports on Viviano

Confusion reigns this afternoon as Maurizio Zamparini claims Palermo have signed goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano whilst Genoa suggest otherwise.

Viviano has been linked with a loan switch south to Sicily this January, although reports on Tuesday morning suggested that Inter may delay any decision until next week.

However, Rosanero President Zamparini has now claimed on the afternoon of the same day that his club have in fact secured the 26-year-old’s services.

“Viviano is ours,” revealed Zamparini. “I’m sorry for [Francesco] Benussi, who has behaved well, but I’m relying on the ex-Bologna ‘keeper.”

However, backing up Inter’s reported stance on the transfer, Genoa, who currently co-own the goalkeeper with the Nerazzurri, have dismissed Zamparini’s words as untrue.

The Grifone, who were originally set to take Viviano to Marassi until he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his knee in the summer, denied through general manager Stefano Capozucca that a deal has been agreed yet.

“I don’t agree with what I’ve read. There is no agreement. To understand if a deal will get through or not, it will take a day or two. I must speak with the President [Enrico Preziosi] and discuss it with Inter.”
