'They said Inter were finished…'

Inter captain Javier Zanetti is delighted that his teammates have been able to silence their critics.

The Nerazzurri are now fourth in the standings after their 2-1 win over Lazio last night – that was their seventh League victory in a row.

“Let’s remember that a month ago many were saying that we would have to fight just to avoid relegation,” he told Inter Channel.

“They said that we were an old team, but we’ve always looked forward without stopping and this is the result.”

Although the Beneamata collected another triumph on Sunday, they struggled to impress against Edy Reja’s men.

“The most important thing is the victory against Lazio,” continued the Argentine veteran. “We needed to continue this run of wins which is crucial in us moving forward.”
