Sevilla have revealed that Juventus made them an offer which they couldn’t refuse for Martin Caceres.
The Uruguayan is just a medical away from re-joining the Old Lady after a deal between the two clubs was agreed on Tuesday.
“It’s an impressive and intelligent transfer for us,” Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta told Balon Parado.
“We couldn’t reject the offer. We are multiplying his transfer fee by almost 250 per cent in relation to what we paid for him six months ago.
“We also already have players in our squad who will be able to step in for Caceres.”
It’s understood that the Uruguayan international will initially arrive on a loan deal for €1.5m. Juve can then buy him outright in the summer for a further €8m.
Sevilla netted the defender on a permanent basis at the start of the season when they paid Barcelona just €3m for his contract.
Caceres spent the 2009-10 season on loan at Juve from Barca.
