Alexander Merkel is confident that he can make an impact at Milan despite his inexperience.
The 19-year-old returned to the Rossoneri last week after spending the first six months of this season at Genoa.
Merkel featured quite heavily at Marassi, making 13 Serie A appearances, but competition will be tougher at San Siro.
“There are a lot of champions here at Milan and it is possible that a few of them have to sit on the bench,” the German told Stern.
“I had a turbulent week when I returned to Milan and I had no problems being a substitute on Sunday. However, I hope that rarely happens in the future.
“I’m still young, but I already trained and played with the Milan first team before I went to Genoa. I have great respect for my teammates here, but I have no fear of them.”
