Dzemaili: Napoli can finish third

Blerim Dzemaili is targeting three points against his former employers Parma this weekend, believing that they will be key to Napoli’s target of third place.

The Swiss midfielder believes that Champions League qualification is still not beyond the Azzurri, but has suggested that in order to achieve it, maximum points this weekend and next must be picked up.

“We need six points against Parma and Cagliari,” the 25-year-old told Radio Marte on Friday.

“Against Chievo and Fiorentina we have slightly reversed the trend, but we must continue to fuel the comeback in the League standings. These are two games that are crucial for the rest of the season.

“We face a race against time, we are competing on all fronts and we must continue to strive to achieve important results.”

Dzemaili spent two years on the Ducali’s books, before his summer switch south to Naples.

“It was a great experience. I have some good memories and I still talk to [Antonio] Mirante and [Stefano] Morrone.

“But now I’m with Napoli and I hope to embrace this new adventure. Probably I was on the bench during the start of the season because they have a great team and I had the wrong approach.

“Then I realised that my teammates were really humble, which put them in such a position to express their full potential.

“[Against Inter] I liked the role [of trequartista], but I can also play as a midfielder or director. I think a player should have tactical flexibility.

“When I started as a 17-year-old, I was a right-back, before I became a central midfielder. I don’t have any kind of problem adapting.”
