Cesena Coach Mario Beretta launched a scathing attack on the referee after today’s Catania draw. “Did you see what shirt he was wearing?”
Gianluca Rocchi sent off Daniel Pudil after just 21 minutes for dissent, as he complained about a yellow card and immediately received a second.
Beretta also saw red from the touchline, while in the final minutes Sergio Almiron was dismissed for Catania in the fiery 0-0 draw.
“Pudil does not speak Italian, just as Rocchi cannot understand English. You see players in other teams really insult the officials and nothing ever happens. I saw it only last week.
“Next time we may as well just start the match with 10 men and without a Coach, seeing as I didn’t do anything and was just giving directions to my players.
“There was no common sense and I have to ask which shirt was Rocchi wearing? I saw it, did you? These were just some of the mistakes, as he carried on like that for the whole game.
“My lads were marvellous and played with pride when down to 10 men against a quality side like Catania. We must continue like this and sooner or later things will go our way.”
Beretta dropped Adrian Mutu at the weekend against Fiorentina and substituted him at half-time today.
“He had a physical problem, but was doing well and sacrificing himself for the team, but he had to come off.”
