Brazilian club Gremio are confident that they will have signed Milan's Ronaldinho by the middle of January.
The Selecao star looks certain to leave the Rossoneri next month with three Brazilian clubs seriously interested in his services.
Flamengo and Palmeiras are keen, but Gremio are optimistic that the former Barcelona player will soon be starring for them.
"We are waiting for the situation to evolve, but we are remaining calm," noted Gremio Vice-President Cesar Cidade Dias. "All will be a lot clearer after January 15.
"There are various clubs that want Ronaldinho, but our shirt represents a lot to him. We have our weapons and we'll fight for his signature. I'm optimistic."
The player's agent brother Roberto De Assis has also suggested that Ronaldinho is about to return to South America.
"After 10 years in Europe the time has arrived to go back home," he is quoted as saying. "However, there is no rush in negotiations."
It's understood that a potential stumbling block is the €8m price tag that Milan have slapped on the player.
"I'm not saying anything about Milan because anything can happen in football," continued De Assis. "We just hope that we can soon resolve this situation."
