Cesena director of sport Maurizio Marin explains why they are not responsible for the “Adrian Mutu pandemonium.”
The striker had a deal to join Cesena on a free transfer, but when told Fiorentina wanted to sell him abroad, he stormed out of training.
Mutu has now been taken off the market and frozen out of the squad following his behaviour, though the offers have multiplied to include Juventus, Bologna, Galatasaray and Dinamo Bucharest.
“Many clubs are interested in Mutu because he is a world class player, but before Cesena made their interest known, nobody wanted him,” said director Marin.
“Instead, now this pandemonium has exploded around him. At this point it's up to Fiorentina to figure out how to get out of the situation. It no longer depends on us.”
