Milan Patron Silvio Berlusconi has revealed how he asked Juventus talisman Alessandro Del Piero to cross the divide and join his club after Saturday night's game.
Del Piero scored the winner in a 2-1 victory at San Siro taking advantage of a loose ball, which he fired beyond Christian Abbiati in the Milan goal.
The 35-year-old, who overtook Giampiero Boniperti in the record books with his strike, is out of contract in the summer, leading to speculation about his future.
Speaking to Sky Italia, Berlusconi said: "We played well on Saturday evening. It's a shame that we lost.
"But Juve are a great team and above all they have a great player.
"I went into the dressing room to congratulate everyone and above all Del Piero.
"I told him that I know his contract is up and I offered him [the chance] to come to Milan.
"He is an extraordinary champion. Hopefully he might finish his career at Milan," Berlusconi concluded.
