Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis insists that Steven Gerrard's first goal for Liverpool last night should have been disallowed.
The Premiership side came from behind to collect a precious 3-1 Europa League victory thanks to a late hat-trick from their captain.
"I have recriminations about the first goal," the Italian international said. "His challenge on me wasn't a fair one."
Gerrard slid in to poke the ball past De Sanctis after a short backpass from Andrea Dossena. The 'keeper was booked for his protests after the goal.
The Azzurri initially impressed onlookers, especially with their first half performance against the Anfield giants.
"In order to come here and win the game we needed to continue to play as we did in the first 45 minutes," added the former Udinese man.
"We made some mistakes defensively and while in possession which allowed them to get back into the game."
