Luca Toni has cheekily asked Antonio Cassano to cross the divide and leave Sampdoria to join Genoa instead.
It appears as though Cassano's time at Bogliasco is over after he fell out with Sampdoria President Riccardo Garrone.
The 28-year-old has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay in Genova, but Garrone is unprepared to forgive him.
Quoted in La Repubblica, Toni said: "It would be a big loss [for the Derby della Lanterna to be without Cassano].
"Anyway, given that I imagine Antonio would like to play it, he can try and call Genoa President Enrico Preziosi and come to play for us…"
When asked to comment on Toni's comments, Preziosi said: "It wouldn't be elegant of me to enter into this debate.
"They are facts that regard another club. But Cassano has shown himself to be mature and a champion.
"It seems unjust to me to speak about Cassanate again."
