Mazzarri: 'I hope it's Napoli's year'

Walter Mazzarri has played down the focus on his own success in the last 12 months by telling reporters that he just hopes it's Napoli's year.

The 49-year-old has worked wonders since he arrived at San Paolo in October 2009 and was even in contention to win the Panchina d'Oro.

He has led Napoli to second place in Serie A this season, leading to suggestions that his side are genuine title contenders.

Sunday's 2-0 win against Cesena closed the gap with League leaders Milan to just three points, piling the pressure on even more.

Asked if it's his year, Mazzarri said: "I hope that it's the right year for Napoli."

Looking ahead to next weekend's clash with Roma, he added: "It will be a terrible match, very difficult indeed.

"Sure they'll be missing two important defenders [in Philippe Mexes and Nicolas Burdisso], but Roma are still one of the most dangerous teams in the Italian League.

"Our job is that of thinking about one game at a time. It's useless to talk about the Scudetto as that doesn't interest us.

"Right now we have to think about Roma."
