Simone Perrotta warns there are “serious problems” at Roma. “It would help to have a club behind us.”
The Giallorossi fell to their second consecutive defeat, falling 2-0 at home to Napoli in an ill-tempered encounter.
“Napoli deserved to win. As you can see, our enthusiasm is not at its best,” sighed the midfielder.
“I think you all know the problems too. We're in a situation that has been dragging on for some time.
“The takeover talks aren't the problem, although I cannot deny in some situations, especially difficult ones like this, it would help to have a club behind us.
“I don't want to explain what type of problems they are. I can say that not having won the Scudetto last season took something away from us in terms of enthusiasm.
“This defeat has left behind any talk of first place. Now our objective is to finish in the top four to qualify for the Champions League.”
Perrotta also analysed the tactical difficulties at Roma recently, but defended Coach Claudio Ranieri.
“As always, this squad will gather round the Coach so we can try to continue doing well. The trouble is at the moment we can't seem to stay solid. Often the strikers are left on their own and have to invent something.
“It's a situation we have to look at carefully, because on Wednesday we have Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.”
