Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale earned a standing ovation from the Cesena fans on Sunday.
The 33-year-old scored a brace at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi to take his personal tally for the season up to 18 goals in 24 games.
Cesena's fans stood up and applauded when Di Natale was substituted after 84 minutes.
"Thanks to all the Cesena supporters because it was an incredible emotion," he said.
"I believe that it was like an award for my career, but aside from all that it made me really happy.
"These are three important points on a very difficult pitch, but letting it go to your head gets you in trouble.
"We are thinking about one game at a time with the consciousness that we must always give the maximum in this final stretch of the season."
