Serse Cosmi warns Palermo the honeymoon period is over against Genoa. “There is only one trequartista in my squad and others must adapt.”
The Coach took over from Delio Rossi last week and his debut was a 2-0 defeat to Lazio, but he has now had time to settle in.
“The last two weeks have been completely different,” explained Cosmi. “In my first few days I saw a team still in shock from their 7-0 defeat to Udinese. It cannot be compared to what I saw recently.
“I also needed time to get to know the squad better. I clarified what it is I want from them, because against Lazio I only saw about three per cent of that.
“This side can play great football, but it lacks something in terms of psychological strength. Now is the moment to get back out there and my job is to put the players in the condition to express themselves.”
Cosmi already changed to a 3-5-2 on his debut, but is planning further changes, including dropping star player Josip Ilicic.
“There will be some adjustments in Genoa. I knew what tactics this side liked to adopt, but I have different ideas on certain players. First of all, there is only one trequartista and that's Javier Pastore. There's no room for two, so the others either adapt or step aside.
“Ilicic made an immediate impact on Serie A and initially played with great enthusiasm. Recently he has lost that clear-headed approach, which is a logical passage in anyone's career.”
Giulio Migliaccio already experimented as a centre-back during Walter Zenga's reign and is put into that slot by Cosmi.
