Cagliari have officially fired Coach Pierpaolo Bisoli and are expected to bring in former Italy boss Roberto Donadoni.
The news was announced on the official website late on Monday evening after a meeting at the club headquarters.
The Sardinians have lost their last two home games on the trot and are in joint penultimate place with just 11 points from 12 rounds.
Although it is not yet official, it is widely reported that the replacement will be former Italy and Napoli tactician Donadoni.
“Cagliari Calcio and Coach Pierpaolo Bisoli have this evening reached an agreement to terminate the working relationship,” read a statement.
“Such an event does not in any way represent unhappiness with the work of the Coach, who we thank for his efforts thus far.
“Unfortunately football is too often based on results and many times we are forced to make decisions that go against sentiment and human rapport.
“Bisoli is and always will be a great Coach. He can only emerge from this experience with his head held high.”
Bisoli is the third Coach to be dismissed in Serie A this season after Bologna's Franco Colomba and Genoa's Gian Piero Gasperini.
