Inter to 'freshen up' squad

Inter will opt for evolution rather than revolution during the summer, transfer chief Marco Branca has intimated.

The Nerazzurri have failed to live up to last term's treble success after losing their Scudetto and Champions League crowns.

That had led many to believe that the club may have reached the end of an era, but Branca says that boss Leonardo will remain and so too will many of the players.

"President Massimo Moratti has been very clear with regard to the future," Branca noted. "Leonardo will stay.

"Now we need to think about how we can freshen up the squad, but we can't freshen it up too much otherwise that would be risky," added the ex-striker.

"We already made a start on this in January and that helped us enjoy a really good second half of the season.

"Now we need to target further improvement."

It's unclear at the present time who, or indeed players in which positions, Inter will target before the 2011-12 campaign kicks off.

Inter made four swoops in January by signing Andrea Ranocchia, Yuto Nagatomo, Houssine Kharja and Giampaolo Pazzini.
