Alberto Malesani has been appointed as the new Genoa Coach, ending his time with Bologna, say reports.

The tactician has apparently put pen to paper on a contract tying him to the Grifone until June 30, 2013.

He had been widely expected to make the move after taking Bologna to Serie A safety despite a three-point penalty, financial problems and numerous changes of Presidency throughout the campaign.

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi opted not to renew Davide Ballardini's contract after he replaced Gian Piero Gasperini mid-season.
