Serie A side Inter have reportedly made a €9m offer to Valencia for Ever Maximiliano David Banega.
The bid is understood to have been rejected by the Spanish club as too low, but the Italians are set to make an improved offer for the player.
Inter, who are reportedly close to netting Ricky Alvarez from Velez, are admirers of the 23-year-old.
The Nerazzurri are looking to freshen up their squad, especially in a midfield which contains veterans such as Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso.
Banega is an Argentine international who was also linked with a move to Napoli as recently as last month.
Banega joined Valencia in 2007 from Boca Juniors and spent the 2008-09 campaign on loan at Atletico Madrid.
