Juventus director general Beppe Marotta assures fans “Arturo Vidal is the player we wanted. His desire to come here helped conclude a difficult move.”
The Chilean international had been linked with the likes of Napoli, Bayern Munich and Roma, but completed his €10.5m transfer to Turin on Friday, plus performance-related bonuses.
“Vidal is an important player who fits the profile of the player we wanted,” explained Marotta at his presentation.
“We wanted him strongly and managed to get his signature. His desire to come here and Bayer Leverkusen's fairness allowed us to conclude a difficult move.”
Although Juventus are not taking part in European competition this season, Marotta notes Vidal turned down others to join the Bianconeri.
“After he put pen to paper, Vidal seemed like a lad who had just made a dream come true. When he put the jersey on for the first time, he just didn't want to take it off!
“These are little things that mean a lot, such as the fact he turned down clubs that would've allowed him to play in the Champions League. We're convinced he can give a great deal to this side and we're proud to have signed him.”
