Inter President Massimo Moratti has admitted that he would have sacked Rafa Benitez if he had been on the bench 10 years ago.
The Spanish tactician saved his bacon last week with back-to-back victories over FC Twente and Parma after a crisis-stricken period in charge.
Asked if a young Massimo Moratti would have got rid of Benitez, he replied: "Well, yes, perhaps yes. Perhaps in that situation I would have sacked him.
"But experience helps you know."
Pressed on just how close Inter got to sacking Benitez, Moratti said: "I never let myself be tempted not just out of patience but out of the respect that I have for him."
