The current Inter tactician had just concluded his first comeback season at Roma in the summer of 2016 when the call came from the FIGC.

According to Calciomercato.com, President Carlo Tavecchio promised Spalletti that the Nazionale would be “less stressful” than his job at the Olimpico.

However, the former Zenit boss was not ready to give up the day-to-day work of being a club Coach.
